Load Management Program
Approximately 90% of the irrigation members participate
in the load management program. This program is designed and closely
controlled by senior management to shave the peak usage when power
is the most expensive. A portion of these savings are passed on
to irrigation members who are enrolled prior to April 1, by reducing
the horsepower cost by $1.00/hp per month.
MEC's load management program has been in affect since
1984 and during load control situations is closely monitored by
the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Engineering Department,
and the Power Plant. Simply put, "The more members that are signed
up for the program the less it affects those members participating."
There is no good reason that all of the irrigation accounts are
not signed up. This is truly a win-win situation, which has no risk
to the irrigation member.
