Here is where you can expect to see Medina EC crews and contractors frequently during January:

  • Crews with Allegiant Utility Services and Lamar Technical Services will be inspecting and updating equipment throughout our service area. During January and February of 2020, their primary focus will be in the Derby and Dilley areas, and they will be finishing up work in Medina County. In March and through mid-April, these crews will be in the Pearsall area. As part of this work, contractors may be photographing Medina EC equipment and poles. Members in impacted areas have been notified by postcards and email, and they will get an email following the work with new account information they may want to record.

  • Crews with LineTec are performing various projects for the cooperative throughout our service area, including rebuilding power lines along FM 1343, south of HWY 90 in Castroville. The project will be complete in January.

  • Crews with Asplundh will be clearing ROW in Bigfoot. This work began February 11 and should be complete by the end of 2019.

  • Asplundh is also working in the Devine area, including the Great Oaks Community near IH-35. This work will continue through the remainder of 2019.

  • Cedar Beetle is working the Castroville area and will continue work in that area through 2019. They are also doing clearing for a rebuild being done in the Quihi area, which should also be complete by the end of the year. Individual members who will be impacted by the work will hear from one of our vegetation management employees.

  • Members in the Quihi and Bader areas will experience a planned power outage on January 22 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. while crews rebuild lines in the area to meet growth and increase reliability.
    RESCHEDULED for January 29, from 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Tree Trimming and Vegetation Management Work

You can learn more about our vegetation management program here.  You may see various contractors inspecting ROW in the area to prepare bids for 2020 work.

  • Rafter 7 Construction is doing work in the Montell and Camp Wood areas, and they are speaking with members as the work is being done. This work will go on until May 2020.

All Medina EC contractors have letters showing that they are an approved contractor along with the dates of the work. If you see someone suspicious, do not hesitate to ask them for their credentials.
