In light of the unprecedented COVID19 pandemic and the economic impacts we anticipate this having on our members and communities, Medina EC is suspending all disconnects for non-payment and will not be assessing late fees on accounts. We recognize the burden that many of the families we serve will be facing, and we want to help ease that burden in any way we can.
We ask that members who are able to pay their bill continue to do so, and that members who need to make payment arrangements contact us. Members will still be responsible to any amounts due on their accounts and will work with members individually to meet their needs in developing a payment schedule. You can contact us at 1-866-MEC-ELEC (632-3532) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There are also various community resources that may be able to assist members.
This change in policy is immediate and will last until July 1. At that time, we will make decisions based on the latest information. Staff continues to meet regularly to review this very fluid situation and monitor information released by the CDC and Texas Health and Human Services.
Update as of 5/21/2020:
As of July 2, accounts with past due amounts will be subject to disconnection. Members will receive a letter and be contacted by the cooperative prior to disconnections. If your account is currently past due, please call our office at 1-866-MEC-ELEC (1-866-632-3532) to see how we may be able to help you.
