Medina Electric Cooperative, in partnership with CoBank’s Sharing Success charitable contribution program, presented $30,000 in donations to four organizations dedicated to community growth, youth development and vulnerable adult support.

The funding was distributed among the Castroville Public Library, San Isidro Independent School District, Laredo Silver Room and the Believe It Foundation. These donations were made possible through Medina EC’s members and CoBank, a national cooperative bank and one of Medina EC’s financial partners. Through the Sharing Success program, CoBank matched Medina EC’s contributions dollar-for-dollar to maximize the local impact.

The four selected projects and organizations include:

• Believe It Foundation received $14,000 to support Hondo ISD’s partnership with the Believe It Foundation. This grant will provide modified bikes to students with disabilities to promote inclusion, independence and adaptive mobility through joyful riding experiences.
• Castroville Public Library received $5,000 to support an outdoor gardening enrichment area designed to educate local families on food production and pollinator support.
• Laredo Silver Room received $6,000 to purchase resource supplies that, through adult protection services, will help the older and vulnerable adults who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.
• San Isidro ISD received $5,000 to help improve the district’s baseball field with new perimeter fencing and a backstop, directly enhancing safety for student-athletes.

Concern for Community and Cooperation Among Cooperatives are key principles of electric cooperatives. This partnership is a prime example of how cooperatives like Medina EC work to improve the quality of life in the communities they serve.
