ERCOT monitors the state's power grid to ensure adequate supply. If supply is tight, ERCOT issues alerts for conservation or may declare an energy emergency to access extra resources. If conditions worsen, ERCOT will mandate forced outages (load shed) across the state. Should this occur, Medina EC will comply and update communication channels as quickly as possible.
As cold weather arrives, prevent bills from skyrocketing by lowering your thermostat and sealing air leaks around doors and windows. Remember to turn off unneeded lights and electronics.
Medina EC is sending three students on the Government-in-Action Youth Tour in 2026!
High school sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply and will each receive a $2,000 scholarship upon graduation.
Medina Electric Cooperative was built by this community over 80 years ago to deliver safe, reliable and affordable energy. We’re proud to be a part of this community and to continue to serve beyond the power lines—from little leagues to school events, giving back to libraries and hosting safety presentations, giving scholarships and so much more.
